Dragon-boat race in China
Do you know England’s Oxford and Cambridge boat race? There is also a Chinese version.
There was a boat race in the south of China. There were 16 teams from different parts of China. The teams went 200 and 500 meters. There were teams of men and women.
It is not an easy sport. If you don't know the technique, the boat won't go. But when you know the right technique, it is easy.
Interesting words: race (moment when people try to go very fast because they want to be the best), version (copy of something which is a little different).
Man falls down in a circus
A Kenyan acrobat has big problems with his body. He is 22 years old. He fell at a Russian circus. A special net didn’t stop his fall. The man was quickly transported to hospital. A bone in his back was broken.
The acrobat was in the middle of his show. He fell twenty-six metres. He hit the floor. Doctors are trying to help him now. The director of the circus said that the net was tested before this accident.
Interesting words: acrobat (somebody who works at a circus), net (thing which is used for catching fish), accident (bad moment when you hit something).
Man had his hand in a machine
Firefighters tried to save a man in China. The man was working with a big machine. His arm was blocked in the machine. He couldn’t move his arm. He needed help.
The firefighters saved him. They used special tools. They cut parts of the machine with these tools. People took the man to hospital. He was lucky. He had only a small problem with his arm. He will be in a hospital for only a short time. He will be OK.

David Hasselhoff wants Berlin Wall
David Hasselhoff is a famous actor. He always played a good man. He's a good man in real life too. He's back in Berlin. Years ago, he helped to destroy the wall. Now, he's helping to save a part of it. The part of the wall is in danger. Some businessmen want to build flats there.
People want to keep this part of the wall. They say that the Wall is a symbol of Berlin. It is good for tourism. A lot of people protested and maybe the Wall will be kept there.

World went green for one day
People in Ireland stopped thinking about their financial problems for one day. Ireland celebrated the day of St Patrick. The celebration was international this year. 70 monuments like the Pyramids and the Jesus Christ statue in Rio de Janeiro were green too.
In Dublin there were many people dressed in green. The young people, the old people, everybody was celebrating. It was a five day celebration. 8,000 people from different countries came to Dublin to visit.
Thirteen million pints of Guinness were drunk in the world in one day. Guinness gave a free visit to its factory for everybody who had the name Patrick.
