At the office
Before you start reading, study the following vocabulary:
Starve
Toss out
Join somebody
Alex: Tina, will you open a window? It's too hot and stuffy in here.
Tina: Sure, Alex, I'll do it. If I don't get some fresh air, I'll go crazy too. And maybe something to eat – I'm starving! So, what are you going to do this weekend?
Alex: On Friday night, I'm going to see that new film, you know, the one with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. What about you?
Tina: Well, my boyfriend is going to the hockey match on Saturday, but on the news they said that it will be warm in the afternoon, so maybe I'll go to the park or something – I haven't really made up my mind.
Alex: Hmm...The park sounds good. And I forgot about the match, too. I hear that it will be a good one. It's the seventh game of the semifinal series, right? Who will win?
Tina: If you ask my boyfriend, then Sparta will definitely win, but who knows – Slavia isn't bad either.
Alex: Please, Tina, don't mention Sparta or Slavia again or I'll toss you out of the window – that's all my sons will talk about for weeks after the match.
Tina: Ok, Ok, relax – the season will be wrapped up shortly anyway, so you won't have to hear about it until next year.
Alex: Anyway, I'm going to lunch with the guys from Marketing – will you join us?
Tina: Umm...thanks, but no thanks... I'll stay in and do some work.
Alex: Ok then, I'm off. Oh, there's my phone again.
Tina: Go ahead, I'll get it.
Alex: Great, thanks.
