Special fruit from Colombia

Drug dealers are very creative, especially when it comes to hiding their drugs.

However, police in Colombia saw through their trick and discovered more than one ton of cocaine. The cocaine was inside fake plastic limes, which were in boxes with the real fruit.

All 400 boxes with the drug were worth 45 million euros. The ship with them was stopped and the drugs taken.

Difficult words: see through (discover something bad), fake (not real), lime (green fruit similar to lemon).

Boy between two walls

A boy dropped his PlayStation and it fell into a gap. The gap between the two walls was only 25 centimeters wide, but he still tried to get his toy back.

Unfortunately, as he tried to get it, he fell down. Because the gap was so small, he couldn't get back up. He got stuck between the two walls. It was not easy to be in there. The boy started to have problems with his breathing.

Local firemen were called to help him. They made a hole in the wall and pulled the boy out. He is fine now.

Difficult words: gap (space between two things), stuck (not able to move), breathing (taking air in and out of your body).

Gold from a ship

Members of a family from Florida were happy but also shocked after they found some treasure.

It was a dream of every pirate, but it is reality for them. The family found gold coins and chains in 11 ships. The ships went down in a hurricane in 1715 and the gold stayed at the bottom of the sea until now.

The treasure, which is worth $300,000, is not staying in the family's hands completely. The State of Florida can take 20% of it and put it in museums.

Difficult words: treasure (group of things like gold, silver etc.), coin (round flat metal used as money), chain (long line from connected circles of metal).

Very dangerous situation

A man from Brisbane, Australia is lucky to live. He waited for a train to pass but didn't notice that there was another train which was coming in the opposite direction.

Masked men in a hospital

Security cameras captured a group of men who entered a hospital in Bogota with guns and masks.

They came to the hospital to rescue a prisoner who was getting a check-up there. They were firing inside the hospital's reception area. The frightened patients could only cower. It looked like a scene from a Hollywood movie.

The criminals succeeded. They took the prisoner and ran away. A Colombian newspaper reported that four men have been arrested since the incident and the government put up a reward of around $15,000 for information which could help them to catch the prisoner.

Difficult words: rescue (save), check-up (when the doctor looks if everything's fine), cower (get down in fear).

Water under Kenya

Every person in Africa knows the hell of droughts. Many have to walk long hours only to get a bucket of water. This, however, is going to change.

Scientists found a big underground lake in Kenya. It is so big that it has enough water for Kenya for half a century. There are also small underground rivers that should always fill it. So there may be always enough water in the lake.

This discovery is going to change everything, not only in Kenya, but in other African countries, too.

Difficult words: drought (when there's not enough water), bucket (thing for carrying water).

Cow and trains

A cow in England somehow got onto a railway and the services had to be stopped for nearly two hours.

Difficult words: curious (unusual), employee (worker), restore (make work again).

Goat on a skateboard

There's another "fun world record." This one was done by a goat.

The goat jumped on a skateboard and travelled an incredible 36 metres in just 25 seconds. It's the farthest a goat has ever travelled on a skateboard. Other goats must be proud.

The goat's happy owner says her goat is little bit proud, too. Sometimes, it acts like some kind of celebrity. However, nobody can deny the goat's skills. It showed its talent for a long time. It did funny things for its owner when it wanted a treat.

Difficult words: incredible (unbelievable), deny (say is not true), treat (little bit of good food).

Driver made a mistake

Some time ago, a terrible train accident happened in Spain. There is some new information about it.

There is an audio recording of the phone call which was made right after the crash. It was made by the driver of the train.

Firstly, he admits the high speed. The speed should be 80 kilometers per hour but he went 190 kilometers per hour. However, he also says that he complained about the curve in the past. He told someone that the curve was dangerous and that something bad could happen.

This is new and important information for the investigation of this accident. Maybe, it wasn't only the driver's fault.

Difficult words: complain (say you don't like something), curve (when the road goes right or left), fault (mistake).

The smallest dog

Another world record is broken. A cute Chihuahua from Puerto Rico is now officially the smallest dog in the world.

The female dog is really tiny. In fact, she is as tall as an iPhone. That is a mere 9.65 centimeters (3.8 inches)!

The dog's owners say that they are a bit worried about their little dog as she could get easily lost or stepped on.

Difficult words: tiny (very small), mere (only).

Boy who can fly

It is up to the parents which type of education they choose for their children. A father from China, who likes to be called "Eagle Dad," has already made the choice.

He likes "Eagle Education." This type of education is very hard. It says that a child can exercise his body and mind only under hard conditions.

The father once made his five year old son exercise outside in his underwear when it was -13°C (8.6°F). The most recent activity that the son did is fly a plane. He flew a plane at 1,000 feet (305 meters) without any help. And he's just five years old.

Difficult words: eagle (big and strong bird which eats other animals), condition (situation).
