Types of crime

homicide – the generic term for the killing of another person

murder – the unlawful killing of a person with the prior intent to do so

manslaughter – the unlawful killing of a person without malicious intent and without premeditation

attempted murder – attack on a person with the intent to kill them, but which does not result in their death

assault – attempt to use illegal force or violence on another person

armed robbery – taking another's property using a dangerous or deadly weapon

burglary – breaking into a private home or other building with the intention of stealing something or committing other crimes

theft – taking someone else’s property without permission

speeding – driving a vehicle over the maximum allowed limit

trespassing – illegally being on private property without permission
