Summer Plans
"Where are you going to spend your summer holidays, Kelly?" asked Brian. "Well, I'm not sure exactly where, but I'll be working at an orphanage somewhere in Africa. As soon as the letter from the mission agency arrives in the mail, I'll be able to tell you," replied Kelly. "Wow!" Brian exclaimed. "What motivated you to do something like that!"
"Well, it's just sort of hit me that I'm pretty fortunate to live in a good country and have a great family. If it wasn't for the grace of God, I'd be in the same boat as those orphans in Africa. I know that I can't make that big of a difference, but if I do my part, it'll at least make a difference for some of those children." replied Kelly.
"You've got a great heart, Kelly. Tell me, though, aren't you worried about the dangers? What will you do if you catch malaria?" asked Brian. "I won't catch malaria. The agency assured us that we won't be in an area that is infested with mosquitoes. But, just in case something happens, I'm going to take some malaria pills before I leave" answered Kelly. "What about all the instability and civil wars going on, aren't you afraid of that?" asked Brian. "Sure, but if fighting were to break out, we'd be evacuated immediately. Our agency has a great track record when it comes to the safety of their missionaries" said Kelly.
"So, tell me about your plans for the summer" asked Kelly. "Well, I don't have any yet, but I was thinking of traveling around Europe. But, I might look into doing something like you're doing, because it does seem more worthwhile. I've also lived a fortunate life, and maybe it's time that I also gave something back. If I did, I'm sure I'd feel a lot better about myself," replied Brian.
