The verb CAN, Prepositions of time
CAN
• it has two meanings: “be able“ (I can go to the party) and „know how to do“ (I can swim)
• it has the same form in all persons (I can, he can, you can, we can, etc.)
• there is no „do“ in questions and negative sentences (Can you help me?)
• verbs that follow CAN have no „to“ (I can do it)
More examples:
I can go there.
She can‘t help me.
Can you do it for me?
PREPOSITIONS OF TIME
At – when you speak about time
• The program starts at 7:40
On – when you speak about days and dates
• I do not go to work on Saturdays.
In – when you speak about longer periods of time (weeks, months, seasons, years)
• Where do you go on holiday in winter?
REMEMBER!
At Christmas, at Easter, at weekends
In the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening (but at night)
