Russia remembers Stalingrad

 

Russia wants to remember the victory of the Battle of Stalingrad. For some hours the city of Volgograd changed its name to the old name of Stalingrad. The victory was 70 years ago. The victory came after six months. It was a very important victory during World War Two.

Hundreds of war veterans came to celebrate the victory. The youngest of them is 89 years old.

Two million people died during the battle. After Stalingrad, the Soviet army started to win and went to Berlin 27 months later.

Extreme windsurfers in Ireland

 

It is a competition for the best windsurfers. The competition was in the middle of a very big storm. It was near Ireland. Ten of the world’s best windsurfers went into the sea. The waves were 6 meters high. The wind was very strong. The wind was 130 kilometers per hour.

Thomas Traversa from France was the best. The competition has three parts. The men must wait for the next big storm. We will know the winner after the third big storm.

The tallest building in Europe was open

 

People in London have a new tall building. For a long time, people in London were watching people make the building. Now people see how it is inside. It is Europe’s tallest building. Its name is the Shard. It is open to all people now.

A lot of people wanted to go up to the top of the building. A hundred and thirty thousand tickets were sold before the opening. The view from the top of the building is fantastic. A lot of people love it. It is like living in the sky.

Man walks on a rope

 

Nik Wallenda walks on a rope high above the ground. It is dangerous. Many people know him. He has some world records. This time, he showed what he can do in Florida. He walked over a road. He had nothing to protect him if he fell.

He walked 65 meters. It was in his hometown, Sarasota, Florida. He had problems with strong wind. Nik walked 15 minutes on the rope above a big road.

Police follow a fast car

 

It was a situation like from a Hollywood film. Two police cars were going behind a car with three people inside. The police cars tried to catch the car. The car went very fast. There was also a helicopter in the air. People in the helicopter filmed the situation.

When the car stopped, two people ran away from the car. Policemen caught the third person.

People hit a reporter in Venezuela

 

A reporter and cameraman from a Columbian TV station had problems. People hit them in the street when they prepared news about the death of Hugo Chavez. It was in Caracas, in Venezuela.

People wanted to catch the reporter. Some people shot from guns. The reporter and cameraman are OK now. It is the second problem for reporters in Venezuela. Some other people from TV were hit too. It was before this moment on the same day.
