Relative pronouns

There are three basic rules:

WHO

is used with people

• The man who I told you about was my friend.

• Mrs. Smith, who lives on the 4th floor, is 100 years old.

WHICH

is used with things

• I’ve lost the book which you gave me for my birthday.

• Can I ask you about something which you won’t like?

WHERE

is used with places

• The café where we had the delicious dessert is just round the corner.

• I’ll show you the place where I got married.

BE CAREFUL!

In spoken English, relative pronouns are often missing. But this grammar will come much later.
