Past continuous
PAST CONTINUOUS
- used for things that happened in the past and were longer
• I was sleeping all day.
• They were studying hard for the exam.
- to make the past continuous, use WAS / WERE and the CONTINUOUS form of the verb (…-ing)
• I was working on the project.
• I wasn’t working on the project.
• Were you working on the project?
- it can be combined with the past simple (it always means the longer activity…)
• I met John when I was going home from work.
Use the past continuous only for things that were dynamic and lasted longer!!!
